Bronco Press Template Instructions

1. Download the Bronco Press Template from www.barksdalepta.org. As your child works on writing the book, please keep the following in mind. The book your child writes and turns in to be published should represent your child’s personal best, age-appropriate writing. The illustrations included in the book should be quality, grade-appropriate work demonstrating effort. If your child needs book ideas, please refer to the Possible Ideas for Bronco Press Books.

2. To get started, scroll down through the pages inserting required information. All information to be added will say [click here and type]. Be sure to complete the Cover, Title page, Dedication, and Meet the Author pages.

3. Begin typing the book at the prompt for the first paragraph. The template has been formatted so that your text, no matter how long, should be at the bottom of the page. This is to leave room for illustration. If the format of your child's book does not match this template, please feel free to make changes as long as the finished pages can be printed on an 8 ½ by 11 inch piece of printer paper.

4. All page layout formatting and page breaks have already been set in the template. You can change fonts and font sizes.

5. Print the book at home. If possible, please use cardstock for the front cover page. Please remember to use 8½ by 11 inch size paper.

6. Illustrate as needed. Quality illustrations should be done in crayon or colored pencils, as markers tend to bleed through the pages. Your child is also able to use photographs or clipart as needed. Remember to illustrate the cover and title page also. You can also add a photograph of your child to the Meet the Author page.

7. Your child will then turn in the illustrated work, through the homeroom teacher, for binding. The completed and bound book will be presented to your child in theclassroom.
